Christina Smith (cello, fiddle, viola da gamba, vocals) is recognised in North America and Britain as one of the foremost exponents of traditional Newfoundland fiddling. Since 1982 she has been collecting, researching, performing, teaching, and publishing on Newfoundland traditional music. She is the 2012 recipient of ArtsNL’s Arts in Education award, Goderich Celtic Festival’s Tradition Bearer award, and the Senate of Canada centenary medal. She has toured and recorded with Portage, Jean Hewson, Maher’s Bahers, and Jim Payne.
